Divine Birth

Your divine birth, O Lord, gave birth to all creatures ….
Mankind gave birth to You in the body;
and You gave birth to mankind in spirit ….
Praise to You, who became a Child,
to make all things new!

St. Ephram the Syrian

Greatness of the Virgin

The greatness of the Virgin is revealed by God choosing her among all the women of the world. The only human for whom the Divine waited thousands of years until He found her, and saw her as worthy of this great honor, about which Archangel Gabriel said, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)

Imitate The Theotokos' Faith in Christ

St. Ephrem The Syrian reminds us “Blessed is the womb that bore you.” :
He took blessedness from the one who bore him and gave it to those who were worshiping him.
It was with Mary for a certain time, but it would be with those who worshiped him for eternity.
“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

Jesus Heals The Blind Man

For when He sent him to the pool of Siloam to wash, He sent him blind. And when he began to see, he did not see the Savior among the multitude that had gathered around him, but immediately, before he saw the Master, he was called to struggle in the contest. For the Master put clay on his eyes before this, that the following might be fulfilled.

For when they cast him out, Christ found him and said to him: "Do you believe in the Son of God?" For he did not see him as a prophet and struggle, but as the Son of God. He did not recognize His face, but he recognized His voice. "Do you believe," He said, "in the Son of God?"

Christ was born

O, man, for your sake Christ was born, and the Son of God came that He might make you to live. He became a babe, He became a child, and He became a man, being [at the same time] God in His Nature, and the Son of God.

Paradise of the Holy Fathers Volume II
