Hope In God

The soul that loves God has its rest in God and in God alone.
In all the paths that men walk in in the world,
they do not attain peace until they
draw nigh to hope in God.

Jesus Entry To The Temple

"Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your Word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all people, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the Glory of Your people Israel."

Luke 2:29-32

Be Sure

Be sure that He who has chosen the beginning of the road for you,
will not leave you on the middle of it.

H. H. Pope Kyrillos VI

Struggling With Temptation

It happened that Abba Moses the black was struggling with the temptation of fornication. Unable to stay any long in the cell, he went and told Abba Isidore. Abba Isidore exhorted him to return to his cell. But he refused, saying, "Abba, I cannot."

Then Abba Isidore took Moses out onto the terrace and said to him, "Look towards the west." He looked and saw hordes of demons flying about and making a noise before launching an attack. Then Abba Isidore said to him, "Look towards the east." He turned and saw an innumerable multitude of holy angels shining with glory.

Abba Isidore said, "See, these are sent by the Lord to the saints to bring them help, while those in the west fight against them. Those who are with us are more in number than they are."

Then Abba Moses gave thanks to God, plucked up his courage, and returned to his cell.

God Cared For Jonah

When Jonah was thrown into the sea the Divine hand picked him up and carried him delicately that he might not perish or drown. God took him and placed him inside the whale to preserve him safe there.

The Miracle Gradually Unfolds

Our Lord wanted the power of his miracles to be seen gradually, little by little. And if the servants had related what had happened they would have been thought mad in testifying to something that was done by someone who at the time appeared to be a mere man. Although they knew for certain what they had experienced (for it was unlikely that they would disbelieve their own hands), yet that would have been insufficient to convince anyone else. And so Jesus did not reveal it to everyone but to the one who was best able to understand what had happened, reserving a dearer understanding of what had happened for a later time.. " And [he had made] not just any wine, bur the best wine.

John Chrysostom
